NBA Star Gets Closure With Conviction Of Dad's Killer In PA

The father of NBA and University of Pittsburgh star DeJuan Blair, was killed — and his killer has been convicted, authorities said.

Blair’s father, Gregory Lamont Blair Sr., 45, of Pittsburgh, was shot dead during an argument with Dilon Bartifay, then 32, over a woman waiting for a Lyft in the 900 block of Center Avenue in Wilkinsburg around 10:25 p.m. in Nov. 16, 2019, according to court documents.

Blair Sr. was pronounced dead from the shots to his head, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital at 11:15 p.m., but had yet to be identified at the time, the court records state.

Bartifay was identified by witnesses and surveillance footage, the court documents show. He was convicted of Criminal Homicide following a three-day trial, according to the DA’s office.

DeJuan Blair reacted on Facebook posting: “Thank God we Got Justice Today! Found that punk Mf Guilty on all Charges!! All Glory to God & Thanks for the Love Prayers & Support Justice was Served for Sr! ”

Bartifay is facing mandatory life in prison. Judge Lazzara has set his sentencing for May 13, the office reports.
